I hope you are having a wonderful start to your summer vacation!

First and foremost, thank you for a great end to this school year.  I am so very proud of your student(s) and their academic accomplishments as demonstrated on the FCAT and the end-of-the-year Stanford assessments.  I am looking forward with great anticipation to starting the 2011-2012 school year and cannot wait to see what our students can achieve!

Next, just as we did last year, all students in grades 4-8 will be required to complete a summer homework packet.  The purpose of the packet is to ensure that your child is cyclically reviewing content taught throughout this past school year and previewing content that will be taught in the fall of next school year.  We are also utilizing the completed packet to establish baseline data that will drive our 2011-2012 instruction.

Every student, in attendance on the last day of school, received a hard-copy of their packet and detailed instructions from their new teachers on how to complete the summer homework packet.  However, as we all know, sometimes things get lost or misplaced.  So, each of the grade level packets is attached below.  (Sorry, no excuses, kiddos!)  The grade level indicated on the packet/file is reflective of the grade your child(ren) will be entering during the 2011-2012 school year.  Please make sure your student is completing the packet for the grade level he/she will be entering in the fall.

Please remember to assist your student in pacing themselves throughout the summer and do not allow them to procrastinate.  :)  Remember....."slow and steady wins the race!"   As a reminder, all packets are due back the first week of school.  Please check your packet below for specific directions, assignments, and due dates.

Have a great summer!!!

Mr. Ramsdell
