  • Dismissal on the last day of school is at 12:30 PM.  ALL students must be picked up by 1:00 PM as there is NO AFTERCARE and all PPA staff will be leaving at 1:00 PM.

  • The school office will close at 1:00 PM on the last day of school, June 7.



  • Exciting News! 3rd grade FSA reading scores (only) have been released and Pinellas Primary Academy scored 5th in the county (out of all elementary schools)! Congratulations 3rd grade students – you did an outstanding job!
  • I know you are all looking forward to the summer and I wanted to give you a run-down on our teacher placement for next year. Some of our teachers are moving grade levels and unfortunately, some of our teachers are relocating. Rather than have people speculate, I thought I’d simply let everyone know so they can say their, “Goodbyes.” We will certainly miss all of these fine teachers.
    • Mr. Miller is one of our beloved PE teachers and has been with Pinellas Primary Academy since the beginning. He’s taken a 2 year teaching position in Singapore to expand his horizons and while saddened, we are excited for this tremendous opportunity.
    • Ms. Warmath is one of the finest teachers and artists I’ve ever seen. She is taking a hiatus and will be concentrating on her art for the next year and we will miss her dearly, but she promises that she will be around to make sure our art program continues to soar! (I may even be able to talk her into facilitating a club.)
    • Ms. Geist, our Gifted teacher will be focusing on her son, but will continue teaching. She brought Odyssey of the Mind to PPA and we will be forever grateful to her.
    • Ms. Leak-Kavota will be taking some time and has allowed me to explain that it is due to health reasons. (She will be fine, but she needs time to devote to her health and get back to her fantastic self!) She promises to come back to us and volunteer next year and we look forward to that. (I may even be able to talk her into substituting once in awhile.)
    • Mrs. Genzel brought us sad news when she was unexpectedly offered a position at a prestigious institution, so she will be returning to her first love of private school. She will be missed tremendously.
  • With those changes, we decided it would be great to change things around a bit and the teaching staff is excited to be given new opportunities to propel the school forward even more! So next year’s lineup is:

      • Newly hired Art (but contract not signed so I can’t divulge but she is experienced as both a classroom teacher and Art teacher. I feel confident that even Ms. Warmath will love her!)

  • Sycamore: You may have experienced “the disappearing report cards” when looking at your child’s documents. We have been working closely with Sycamore and it appears to have been a programming error on their end. They feel they may have corrected it, but I won’t know until Monday. Let me assure you that your child will receive a report card as we have figured out a “work around” to their system.


  • 8th Grade Parents- please make sure your child has brought their cap and gown home.  Many students have left their cap and gowns at school and they are in corners of the classrooms, it is the student’s responsibility to take them home.  We do not have any extras and students will not walk at graduation unless they are dressed appropriately.

  • Our last Honor Roll Assembly will be on Tuesday, June 7th at 10:10 AM.  If you are planning on dismissing your child after the assembly please bring your cartag with you and teachers will sign students out.  You may enter from the gate by the playground.

  • 5th Grade Step Up was wonderful.  Thank you to Mrs. Armstrong,Mrs. Knight, Mrs. Kupsis, Mrs. Maxwell, and Mrs. Quartararo for organizing an amazing event.  A special thank you to Maddy from Maddness Photography for taking some amazing photographs.

  • The 8th Grade Formal was a huge success. Thank you to Mr. Foss for volunteering for all of our dances all year!


8th Grade:

Important Information for 8th Graders:

June 3rd – 8th Grade Formal.  Any student with a GPA lower than a 2.0 (from 8th grade Core Classes: English, Social Studies, Science, Math, Spanish) will not be allowed to attend.  Any student who receives a referral throughout the year will not be allowed to attend.

All 8th graders are released at noon.  All students must be picked up by noon.  Any child picked up after 12:10 will be charged $1/minute.

June 6th – 8th Grade Breakfast- 8th Grade Students Only 8th graders will receive their yearbooks and have breakfast at school. We will then have a graduation rehearsal at PPA.

June 6th – Graduation

Only students who are passing all classes will walk at graduation.  Any student who will be entering Summer Bridge, summer FLVS, any grade recovery, or retention status will not be permitted to walk nor will they participate in any practice activities for Graduation.

Students must be dropped off at Pinellas Park High School’s Auditorium by 5:00 PM.  Doors will open at 6:00 PM for families to enter, graduation will begin promptly at 6:30 PM.  Each graduate will receive 6 seats at graduation; tickets are not necessary.  Light refreshments will be served in the lobby of the Pinellas Park Auditorium immediately following graduation.  Please remember that in order to walk students must be in good standing and passing all courses.

Its summerPinellas Prep Summer Camp 2015!

Sign your child up for one or more of the creative camps offered by our very own PPA teachers! Have the comfort of knowing your child is being led by certified teachers while they are engaging in fun and exciting activities. Each camp has a different theme to keep your child active and entertained this summer. All camps play organized games with the other camps in session and go on a weekly field trip.

Basic Camp Info

*price includes field trip and camp supplies (must bring lunch daily)
*no refunds will be given
*$50 nonrefundable deposit due at sign up

Sign Ups:        Please use our Signup Genius link to sign up for camps and to check availability. There are NO sign up deadlines!

Payments:          If you sign up for more than one camp, payments can be made in installations (please contact Stephanie Schell for more information). Slots are not saved until $50 deposit is received. No refunds will be given once a student is enrolled in a camp.

June 13th-17th


Cheerleading Camp
Teacher: Mrs. Lauser
Grade Level: 3rd-8th
Camp Cost: $175/child (includes shirt, shorts, bow, and music CD)

Are you an energetic, team player?  If so, join our Championship Flyers Cheer coach for a week of CHEER – tas-tic fun!!  Coach Lauser is looking for 3rd – 8th graders who are interested in learning and perfecting their cheer skills.   Campers will be learning a routine that includes cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, and basic tumbling to get you prepared to be a first class PPA cheerleader!  We will also be doing cheer and gymnastics crafts as well as going on an amazing field trip to a gym to work our skills on a mat!  Cost will include a CD with cheer music, cheer shirt, shorts, and BOW!   Be prepared for a week full of energy, teamwork, and fun! (Make sure you list your shirt and shorts sizes on the Sign Up Genius).

Sports Camp
Teacher: Mr. Darin
Grade Level: 3
Camp Cost: $160-includes equiptment

Join Mr. Darin for a week dedicated to 3 different sports! Together we will cover the basic fundamentals and rules of football, basketball, and baseball. You will practice and even play mini-games of each sport to reinforce the fundamentals and rules we have learned. On the fourth day we will have a sports specific challenges where the winner will get a medal! Not everyone gets a medal, but everyone will get a certificate! Get ready to improve your sports knowledge and skills in this fun camp!

Scrapbooking Club
Teacher: Mrs. Messa
Grade Level: 3rd-8th
Camp Cost: $170/child (includes scrapbook and supplies)

Join us for a fun Scrapbooking camp where we will make a mini album of your choice.  Some popular themes include Disney, birthday parties, vacations, school pictures or even your pet.  Campers will have use of Cricut machine and Sizzix to create all types of embellishments.  We will use stickers, rub-ons and all types of inks just to name a few.


June 20-24

Sports Camp
Teacher: Mr. Miller and Mr. Youmans
Grade Level: 3rd-8th
Camp Cost: $150-Please indicate shirt size in Sign Up Genius

Join Mr. Miller and Mr. Youmans for one of our most popular camps- a fun-filled week of team sports and games! Learn the skills and techniques of a variety of team sports and participate in games such as Capture the Flag, Jail Break, Dodgeball and more. This camp is full of activity and is fun for everyone!


Dessert Camp
Teacher: Ms. Doepker
Grade Level: 3rd-8th
Camp Cost: $170-includes baking supplies

Sugar, spice, and everything nice is what this dessert summer camp is made of! If you enjoy eating desserts than you’ll love making them this summer. Miss Doepker is looking for 3rd-8th graders who have an enthusiasm for learning how to create delightful tasting sweets.  We will be trying out all types of recipes to suit everyone’s tastes this summer. If you are interested in learning how to craft and devour delicious treats then be sure to sign up for Dessert Camp!


June 27-July 1


Basketball Camp
Teacher: Mr. Draper
Grade Level: 3
Camp Cost: $170/child (includes gymnasium rental)

If you love basketball or just want to improve your skills this is the camp for you! This camp will include all the fundamentals of the game of basketball and is designed to improve your individual skills while helping gain a better understanding of the game. Each morning we will focus on a different skill set such as ball handling, shooting, and defense. Afternoons will be filled with team drills and 5 on 5 scrimmages. We will spend most of our time at the church gymnasium PPA uses for basketball games so we can practice our skills in the A/C! This camp is designed for beginners and those who have already have experience with the game.  



Lego Camp
Teacher: Mrs. Pizzo
Grade Level:  3rd-8th
Camp Cost: $150-Bring your Legos!

Are you a Brick Builder? Do you love Legos? If you said yes, then this camp is for you! All beginner and master builders are welcome! We will have building wars and competitions. You will be inspired, educated, and entertained…all with Legos!    Be ready for wind powered car races, Lego tension catapults, games, and much more! We have a supply of Legos, but feel free to bring your own too.
